Leading Like Lewis-Good Trouble Always,

Mrs. Hurley has twenty years of experience in education with a strong passion for academic excellence, personal growth, and a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Her educational journey includes a Bachelor of Arts in History from South Carolina State University, a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Fort Valley State University, and an Education Specialist degree Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Throughout her career, she has had the privilege of working in various educational roles, including 5-12 social science teacher, K-12 Education Specialist for the U. S. State Department, K-12 District Social Science School Improvement Coordinator, and Assistant Principal at Southwest and Westside High Schools. Each of these experiences has provided her with valuable insights into the diverse needs of students, parents, and educators.

At John R. Lewis Elementary, her goal is to build upon and continue the existing culture of excellence and achievement as well as to work collaboratively with the exceptional staff to provide an enriching educational experience for all students. She will be a champion for our students, fostering a positive and inclusive school culture that enriches, celebrates student success in all areas, promotes positive citizenship, and values the unique talents and contributions of every individual. She will also focus her attention on increasing our students’ content mastery on the Georgia Milestones, so that they will embody our namesake’s desire that children, “learn about the world, so they can follow their imaginations. Children who read maintain their sense of wonder and ask questions—necessary questions—that make them examine why things are the way they are.”

Our students will LEAD every day!

Learning, Enriching, Achieving & Determined to succeed!
